Fondation Opale in Lens: Inauguration
Inauguration of a New Wing and Celebration of Aboriginal Art in Lens
An Important Milestone for Culture and Art
The Fondation Opale in Lens has reached a major milestone with the inauguration of its new wing. The event, which took place on December 17, 2023, marked not only the Foundation’s impressive expansion, but also its fifth anniversary. It was also the day of the launch of the remarkable exhibition HIGH FIVE!
Aboriginal Art at the Heart of the Opale Foundation
Aboriginal art is now the focal point of the Opale Foundation, illustrated by a fascinating piece of Aboriginal art adorning the center’s façade. The new Aboriginal art library and innovative installations transform the Foundation into a crossroads for cultural encounters and discoveries.
Impressive Expansion: New wing and its features
The new wing, funded by donors such as Bérengère Primat and Swiss institutions, includes a library, auditorium, conference room and new storage space. This investment of 12 million francs underlines the Foundation’s commitment to the promotion and dissemination of Aboriginal art in Europe, a unique initiative for a contemporary art center.
HIGH FIVE! : An Innovative Exhibition
The new HIGH FIVE! exhibition features an exceptional collaboration with 26 Swiss cultural personalities, including Kevin Germanier, Sasha Huber, Namsa Leuba, Noémie Schmidt and Pierre Magistretti. Each personality chose a work of Aboriginal art from the Foundation’s collections to put into dialogue with a work of their own, creating a unique visual experience and an enriching cultural exchange.
